Getting Ink Done
Jul. 14th, 2012 12:46 pmThere's a meme-type pic circulating FB. It has a heavily tattooed man & woman with the text: We will never regret our tattoos. Click share if you want to end discrimination against getting tattoos."
I don't have any issues with tattoos. Granted my instincts and first impressions to lean toward tough men, thugs, etc. I have to remind myself that those are hasty generalizations. I don't have a tattoo, and I don't think I'll ever get inked. I went swimming with a former co-worker last year and he seemed amazed that I'm ink-free. I have chewed over getting a very small tat like a lightning bolt or a paw print, but then I think, yeah they'll look all right as a 29 year old, but I'm not going to stay young forever. How would I look when I'm old and gray sporting a lightning bolt or a wolf's paw print on my arm or shoulder? With that in mind, I think I'm going to remain in a shrinking minority of people without tattoos. And I'll admit I'm afraid of discrimination. And in my job field, there's a lot of it. I actually have to look like Peter Parker and Clark Kent for appearances. And I am living like those two. After work's over, we shed our geeky exteriors. I'm happy wearing a sheepskin on the outside, as long as there's the heart of a wolf lurking on the inside.
