I ate at Shangri La's last night. I love that place, and it's one of those nice Chinese restaurants that I'd go with a boyfriend if I had one.
For starters, I sit in booth and there's a guitarist in the bar playing a folk-type version of Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks". I regret not recording the performance but I'm not sure what Emily Post has to say about recording bar guitarists.
And I ordered a partridge which, clichéd as it sounds, tasted like chicken, but was a pain in the ass to eat with a fork and knife. As I cut the meat, I remembered that scene from Point Of No Return where Anne Bancroft's character is teaching all of the female assassins how to eat a refined meal. She serves them partridge or pheasant with veggies and mousse in a wine glass for dessert, and all of the girls do well except for Bridget Fonda's character who immediately loses patience trying to slice up the greasy bird with a fork and knife. Frustrated, she grabs the bird with her hands and bites into it, spitting out the bones and scooping mousse with her fingers while the other ladies smirk at her and Anne Bancroft stares daggers at her. Well, I can relate to Fonda's frustration. It took me forever to cut it up since I didn't want to use my hands. I did cheat a little and ate the hard to reach pieces of meat from the leg and wing with my hands. And by that time, the restaurant was nearly empty.

Fast forward to 5 mins for the dinner training .
I ordered A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas on On Demand. I'm sorry that I never made it to the theater. That one HAS to be seen in 3D. I don't want to post a spoiler because it's also a scene that goes way the hell beyond the pale, but I would have had more fun looking at the audience's reaction to the 3D objects than getting blown away by the special effects themselves. I did age a little when the guys wind up at a house party thrown by teens and a kid threatens to "throw their wrinkled asses out" when Kumar says that he's 30 years old.
